- Computer projectors will be available in all session rooms; presenters should bring their own laptop to use for the presentation. (Overhead projectors will not be used.) 20 minutes are alloted for each paper (including time for questions and swapping laptops); so presentations should probably be 15 minutes long.

The conference committee arranged the banquet on a boat cruising around the Tokyo bay area. The cruise will depart from the Takeshiba Pier at 7:00 PM on the second day of the conference. You will come back to the Pier at around 9:30 PM. The shuttle buses are provided for your convenience between the Keio Plaza Hotel and the Tekeshiba Pier.
*2 Technical tour on July 15
9:30-11:30
In the morning, we will visit the Shinjuku Center Building that is just a few blocks away from the Keio Plaza Hotel. It has recently been equipped with numerous damping devices for improving the seismic resistant performance in case of long-period ground motion induced by large earthquakes. This tour will give us a chance to take a close look at those dampers while listening to the technical explanation by the engineers involved in this retrofit project.
13:30-17:30
In the afternoon, we will visit the Institute of Technology, Shimizu Corporation, which is one of the five largest contractors in Japan. The tour will provide us a wide variety of exhibitions related to the conference topics. For your convenience, the conference committee will provide the participants the shuttle bus service.
You are supposed to make a reservation for the technical tour when you make a registration on the web site.
Dear Conference Participants:
The committee of the 5WCSCM appreciates the overwhelming registration for the technical tour, one of the conference events scheduled on the 15 of July. The committee has to know the precise number of those who would like to take a part in the technical tour prior to the conference, because we need to make an arrangement for the program. Result: Almost all of the participants want to go on the tour. The committee did not expect such a huge positive response from the participants, which is our unexpected pleasure.
The committee decided to expand the technical tour capacity and asked the volunteering companies to provide us more time and space for the tour. There is, however, limitation. The seats available for the shuttle buses as well as for the conference meeting rooms are no more than 60, which is the maximum capacity of the technical tour.
Therefore, we must select 60 people from those who would like to be a part of the events of the program. We must reconfirm those who stay with us till the last day of the conference to go on the tour. Please remember to register again the technical tour at the registration desk at Keio Plaza Hotel on the first day of our conference. If the reconfirmation is over 60, please allow us to select randomly the lucky people. We do appreciate your cooperation.
